This hammock is a "classic" in the U.S.A. It is handwoven
in the Southeast region of the U.S.A. It is popular because of its
sturdy
looks, however the design lacks the stability and comfort of the Mayan
and Brazilian types. The hammock will tip easily if the user's weight is
not centred. The coarse weave, with wide open spaces and thick cords,
does
not provide much material to distribute the weight of the user and after
short periods of time the cords can cause uncomfortable pressure. It's
best to use for short periods of time and with a pad or blanket under
the
user. It also lacks the compactness and portability of the Mayan and
Brazilian
Designs. However there are those who love this type and would not choose
any other. The hammock is made with quality hand workmanship from
materials
of synthetic cords and oak bars.
